N-Zar, qzar laser tag

The absolute best source for Q-zar information, strategy, and all-around good taggin' fun.

Contact N-Zar

Q-Zar is what happens when you take high energy music, flashing lights and lasers flying all over, and a bunch of overly competitive friends, and throw them all into one 20 minute laser tag fest. In Q-Zar you use your laser to shoot, or "tag", your opponents (shouldn't be tough to spot...they are wearing a different color than you). Tagging your opponents scores points, as well as tagging the enemy base. But don't get hit yourself, because you'll lose a life, some points, and your laser will deactivate for 5 seconds. But don't worry, you get 10 lives, and anytime you run out, you just go over to a little electronic device near your base called the energizer and get all 10 back (and you can do this as many times as you want....you play until the games time limit is up...you're never "removed from the game"...unless your breaking rules).

Basic Strategies and what to expect in your first game - by bozokeoy

There are a few basic rules to Q-ZAR.  Here they are in order of importance:
1. Don’t let your opponent hit your base.
2. Shoot your opponent.
3. Shoot your opponent’s base.
4. Don’t let your opponent hit you.

1. Don’t let your opponent hit your base – This is the most important rule!
I am sure that you know that when your opponents hit your base they score
1000 points for themselves and 10 points for their team.  Do whatever you
can to stop a hit to your base, but don’t get reckless: a quick run into the
middle of your base will award you with a great big vibrating vest.  Instead
try to sneak behind or around the person attacking your it.  If two people
do the job it will be much more effective, with two sneaky people you have a
50% chance of being noticed and a better chance of hitting the base.  Also,
don’t stay in the base if you are a defender.  Get out and find a good
sniping position!

2. Shoot your opponent – This is harder to do than it sounds.   Many people
will jump/block/run/cry/shoot/scream/wine/ovulate/get angry/threaten to get
out of the way of a shot.  Just remember that you are firing a LASER, which
moves at the speed of light (duh!).  Once your beam is loosed upon your
target it will hit it within .0000001 of a second, and to my knowledge, no
human is that fast.  The only way your shot can be blocked is well, with a
block (I won’t go over blocking in detail here).  The people who move or
jump or duck to get out of the way do so BEFORE you pull the trigger.  Just
remember that these people have to move out of your line of sight BEFORE you
shoot, or they’re hit. You may not be a regular hawk eye, but it isn’t hard
to hit any of the sensors on your enemy.  REMEMBER YOU HAVE ONE SECOND AFTER
YOU GET SHOT TO RELFEX (shoot back at) YOUR ENEMY! Also remember that you
don’t have to reflex the person who shot you.  If they aren’t in sight hit
somebody else.  Don’t complain or get frustrated, just shoot.  You’ll do
better than you expect.

3. Shoot your opponent’s base – Most points scored in games come from
shooting players, but bases can add an extra oomph to your score and get you
the win.  If you happen to notice that your base is under attack (by most of
your opponent’s team), GO FOR THE BASE! Get a few teammates to go with you
if need be.  Again I stress the importance of planning your attack.  If you
rush in head long, you will only receive an orgasmic vibrating experience with your
front panel (unless you are just that good).  If there are mirrors
positioned around the target base, USE THEM!  About 80% of the time, the
defenders will not be looking into the mirror to check for smart people like
you who know how to use them.  If you can score a hit on a defender, and
make him chase an imaginary foe, good for you.  Your shots will probably
make him look around, leaving an opportunity to hit them and then the base.
You should crouch down as low as possible, steady your gun, and shoot the
base!
